GCI Community Grants
Our Initial Application asks for basic information on your organization, mission, leadership, and project idea. A detailed proposal is not required until the second phase of the application process.
Our Project Proposal seeks greater detail on your vision for the project, including your team, timeline, budget, and anticipated impacts. This phase is invitation-only.
We have Application Webinars providing information on our application process, eligibility, tips for applying, and plenty of time to ask questions. (register here)
We don't have a set number of grants. Grants are awarded based on the strength of the applications, not quotas for each category. The total number of awards depends on available donor and sponsor funding.
You don't have to write in English. We translate every application submitted in a language other than English, and they're reviewed equally. We'd much rather hear your authentic voice than a translated or AI-written application.
Previous partners can apply again. If you've completed your past grant requirements, you're welcome to apply again. The exception is that we don't fund the same grant category in back-to-back cycles, helping us balance continued partnerships with opportunities for new organizations.
You can submit multiple applications. Each distinct project idea should be submitted as a separate application and will be reviewed independently.
Small projects are welcome. In emerging climbing communities, sometimes the strongest visions start small. We’d rather see a project that is targeted and feasible rather than one that attempts to accomplish more than is realistic in 6 months.
