Around the world, there is unequal access to critical skills for climbing leadership, including guiding, mentorship, wilderness first aid, crag development, routesetting, environmental protection, and organizational development. This gives certain communities advantages over others in growing their climbing communities safely.

Our Climbing Leadership Fund addresses this inequity by equipping emerging climbing leaders with the skills they need to build effective climbing organizations and share climbing with other members of their local community. Through multi-year partnerships, we support climbing leaders as they shape and implement their vision for the future of climbing in their own context.

With more equipped climbing leaders, we will see this sport maximize its potential for positive impact and see the ripple effects of sustainable tourism, social change, and environmental protection. All of this work is provided at no cost to local climbing communities and leaders, funded by the generous donors of our Climbing Leadership Fund.

Each year, from among our existing partner organizations, we select one new Climbing Leadership Fund partner and invest deeply in the future of their climbing community. Learn about our first three Climbing Leadership Fund projects below.
