Elizabeth Redman Cleveland

Advisor

As the Chief Strategist for Sustainable Growth at the City of Berkeley Office of Economic Development, Liz utilizes partnership development, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and research skills to design local policies, programs and networks to ensure socially and environmentally responsible economic growth. In this role, she leads the Berkeley Startup Cluster public-private-academic partnership with a goal to make Berkeley a better place for startups to launch and grow, and serves on the Steering Committee of the Women Entrepreneurs of Berkeley and Alameda County Green Business Program. Before joining city government, Elizabeth led a global consulting practice for IHS Markit (now S&P Global) that leveraged the firm’s information, analytics and insight to help customers achieve economic competitiveness and sustainability objectives. Elizabeth also previously founded her own economic development consulting firm (Cross Sector Strategies), designed regional industry cluster development strategies at the Economic Competitiveness Group, and has advised many business associations, academic institutions, philanthropies, and non-profit organizations on a broad range of economic and workforce development topics in multiple US states, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. In her free time, Elizabeth loves rock climbing, running, whitewater kayaking, hiking, and just generally being outside. As an Advisor to GCI, she hopes her big-picture thinking and strategy development skills will help the organization enable more climbers to drive positive change in communities around the globe.
