Our partners at Climb Malawi shared with us that the biggest opportunity for their community’s growth would be investment in the skills of local climbing leaders for crag development, gym routesetting, and guiding and leadership skills.
In 2023, we selected Climb Malawi to become our second Climbing Leadership Fund partner. That August, we organized a three-week training for members of Climb Malawi and local mountain guides, through which instructors Genevive Walker, Mario Stanley, Liz Ndindi, and Scott Clark deeply invested in the skills of these Malawian climbing leaders through training in:
Basic Climbing Skills
Advanced Climbing Skills
Bolting
Photography
Leadership
In 2024, we continued our support of the growth of climbing in Malawi, with Mario Stanley returning to lead trainings in:
New crag scouting and documentation
Filmmaking
We aim to continue equipping Malawi’s rising climbing leaders and supporting their vision for the growth of climbing in their country. Please donate today to fund further trainings and investments in Malawi’s indoor and outdoor climbing resources.
