Research
We believe research should be the foundation of any impact-driven initiatives
The Global Climbing Initiative is expanding the body of knowledge about the growth of climbing and its economic, social, and environmental impacts around the globe. We travel to climbing destinations at different stages of development, get to know the local climbing community, and engage in participatory research to capture the unique context of climbing in each area. So far, we have produced three case studies, and we have additional studies and research reports in production.
Partnerships
All of our work is centered on relationship building within the global climbing community
We partner with nonprofits and businesses in the climbing world to help them do their work more equitably, sustainably, and effectively. Whether by helping them create measurement tools, re-evaluate their mission and vision, develop a fundraising strategy, or learn how to get their message out there, we work hand-in-hand with climbing organizations around the globe driven to help people and the planet.
Impact
We lead projects using climbing as a force for positive change
Drawing upon our research and partnership work, The Global Climbing Initiative also engages in direct impact projects. These include gear distribution, fundraising, event coordination, and global advocacy on the behalf of climbing communities. For 2021, our main impact project is the creation of a first-of-its-kind resource presenting best practices for the development of climbing areas and communities worldwide.
