How You Can Support Climbing Businesses

By Nicki Simon | April 4, 2020

Gyms, gear shops, guiding companies, restaurants, and more are really hurting right now as a result of COVID-19. These businesses need our support now more than ever to get through this! Here are some ideas for how you can contribute and support climbing businesses.

1. Shop online

Contact your local shops to see if they are still open and doing deliveries or curbside pickup.

2. Buy gift cards

Let’s be real; you’ll probably buy that jacket or new rope eventually, so might as well view it as an investment in your favorite shop and a gift to your future self.

3. Keep paying your gym membership

If you are financially able to, continue paying your gym membership while they are closed. This helps the gyms continue to pay their employees and ensure that they will still be there when this is all over.

4. Build a home wall

Build a home climbing wall like you always said you wanted to, and get up to 30% of your purchase from Eldorado Climbing Walls donated to the climbing gym of your choice.

5. Resole your climbing shoes

This is also a perfect time to send in your climbing shoes to get resoled... it’s not like you’re using them right now anyway. Many resolers, including Greater Tahoe Gripworks, Rock and Resole, and The Rubber Room, are still operational with adjusted protocols to minimize human contact.

6. Share the love

If you are not in a position to contribute financially, it is always helpful to share some love on the web and write reviews for your favorite businesses.
